Benefits of Thermal Modification

Chemical-Free Process

Thermal modification uses only heat and steam to remove moisture from the wood. No chemicals are used in the process.

Enhanced Stability

Thermal modification alters the cellular structure of wood and reduces moisture absorption. The resulting product is exceptionally stable.

High-Altitude Performance

Due to its enhanced dimensional stability, thermally modified wood performs well in harsh high-altitude environments.

Natural Weathering Process

Thermal modification gives Lunawood its warm, caramel brown color. Left unfinished, it gradually transitions to a soft silver gray as it’s exposed to sunlight. This natural weathering is part of the material’s character and does not impact its stability or long-term performance. Designers can choose to preserve the original tone with finish or allow Lunawood to age gracefully over time.
